it's jeon jeongguk's second year at university, and he doesn't know a damn thing. rather: he does not know a damn thing about 𝘩𝑖𝑚𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓.

a life of working with computers and a full scholarship had jeongguk prepared to work in the tech realm; however, his computer science studies have grown tedious, each required class dragging on with things that no longer excite him. he often questions whether he has limited himself in his studies for the sake of practicality, leaving him jaded towards his coursework.

if anything keeps jeongguk going, it is his close circle of friends. he is surrounded by people who are fiercely talented and passionate about what they do. jeongguk followed his childhood best friend kim namjoon to university, the pair eager to carry on their adventures after ten years of friendship. in his first year, jeongguk is randomly assigned to room with thespian park jimin, and the duo become fast friends, tormenting their resident advisor, kim seokjin, with their musical watch nights and their attempts to learn dirty dancing choreo. as year one bled into year two, their group expanded, and jeongguk felt like he had finally found a place in the world. see: connections.

however, his sophomore year teaches jeongguk that there are few certainties in his life. in addition to his wavering passion for his studies, jeongguk feels increasingly alone, even surrounded by his friends. watching jimin fall for namjoon, then for min yoongi, he wonders if there truly is someone out there for him, as he had always hoped. with drunken hook-ups and a fling with his professor, jeongguk searches for a love that he has always dreamt of. further complicating this search, a spur of the moment decision leads to jeongguk and seokjin embarking on a fake relationship. see: fake boyfriend with benefits.

after namjoon drops out without a word, jeongguk is left to wonder if there are any certainties in the world. try as he might, he cannot help but worry this life he built for himself will slip away at any moment. the year ahead is filled with confusion, heartache, and plenty of gay panic.

jeon jeongguk and kim seokjin are nemeses. or, that's what jeongguk has convinced himself of, anyway. his first year, jeongguk was determined to make his resident adviser's life a living hell. whether this was because of his general hijinks or because he was utterly impressed by the RA is neither here nor there: jeongguk tormented seokjin, and seokjin spent more hours than he should have writing him up for it.

it was a wonder, then, when seokjin entered their friend group by the second year. their nemesis-ship bled into their day to day, with jeongguk convinced the elder held genuine hatred for him.

one day, however, jeongguk finds himself face to face with one of seokjin's creepy suitors. a swift punch to the face set the course for the rest of their year: jin and jeongguk agreed to pretend to date. the terms were simple: feign romance to protect jin from the creepy followers he'd gained on instagram, stage photos of fake dates and put on a show for their friends, and if either of them fell in love with someone else, they would re-evaluate their arrangement. with the firm termination date of jin's graduation day, jeongguk figured it couldn't be so bad. it felt like a movie, and jeongguk loved movies. above all, he loved love, and maybe this fake relationship could help prepare him for his first real one. just jeongguk and his fake boyfriend (fbf).

the fake relationship is easy enough, displayed by posts on instagram and affectionate names on the timeline. the relationship comes with its challenges, especially when the pair befriend a peculiar yet observant couple, mitsu and kyo. it doesn't hurt that jin and jeongguk both find each other undeniably attractive, with each of them being extraordinarily good kissers. it was only a matter of time before their arrangement added a physical element, and they soon became fake boyfriends with benefits (fbfwb).

it's not so bad, jeongguk thinks, pretending to love seokjin. as the pair stray further from their nemesis status, jeongguk hopes that their friendship will not also expire at the end of their fake relationship.

attending seoul national university on a full scholarship, jeon jeongguk simply did not get a job. foolish, considering he spends all his money on sims expansion packs and excessive amounts of alcohol. fortunately, some of his friends, affectionately referred to as his sugar guardians, chip in for his expenses. a sugar baby in a non-traditional sense, ggukie is certainly more baby than sugar.

min yoongi. jungkook's tattoo artist turned suga daddy. frequently found buying groceries and getting food. jungkook is a growing boy, after all.

kim taehyung. a celestial being, sugar tae also covers jk's groceries, with a concentration in alcohol. they bond over musicals jungkook may or may not have seen.
